5 Days Northern Circuit Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1 : Arusha - Serengeti (Ikoma Wildlife Camp)

Approx. 7–8 hrs drive | 350 km

Early morning departure from Arusha (6:30 AM). Scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley, passing Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Highlands. Arrive at Ikoma Wildlife Camp in the western Serengeti by afternoon.

Afternoon game drive to explore the surrounding plains, ideal for viewing big cats, elephants, and (seasonally) wildebeest migration. Dinner and overnight: Ikoma Wildlife Camp.

Day 2 : Full-Day Game Drive – Serengeti National Park

Early breakfast followed by a full-day game drive across the vast Serengeti plains.

Explore areas like the Grumeti River, known for crocodiles and hippos, and open savannah for lion, leopard, cheetah, and more. Picnic lunch in the bush, continuing wildlife viewing into the afternoon. Dinner and overnight: Ikoma Wildlife Camp.

Day 3 : Serengeti – Ngorongoro/Karatu Area

Approx. 4–5 hrs drive | 180 km (with game drive en route)

Optional early morning game drive before breakfast.

Depart mid-morning for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, game viewing en route. Brief stop at Ngorongoro viewpoint, then descend to Karatu for overnight. Dinner and overnight: Karatu Tented Camp or similar.

Day 4 : Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire National Park (Approx. 3–4 hrs drive | 170 km)

Early breakfast and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater (6:30 AM) for a half-day crater tour. Spot black rhino, lions, buffaloes, elephants, flamingos, and more in the world’s largest intact caldera. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool.

Afternoon drive to Tarangire National Park, check-in at Mawe Tented Camp or Baobab Camp. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 5 : Tarangire – Arusha (Approx. 2.5–3 hrs drive | 120 km)

Early morning game drive in Tarangire, famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and varied birdlife. Return to camp for breakfast.

After breakfast, depart for Arusha, arriving around 1:00–2:00 PM, depending on game drive duration. Drop-off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
